Weezer is back with another full-length album representing a specific color in its title and album artwork. This one is the Black Album, and the artwork depicts the name perfectly. Each member is seen on the cover art dressed from head to toe in black, along with an entirely black background. It is quite artistic and unlike all of their previous album artwork.

The first track on this album is “Can’t Knock The Hustle”, a super catchy and upbeat jam that for sure will get you dancing. Part of the chorus, “Can’t knock the hustle, hasta luego, hasta luego, hasta luego, adios” is guaranteed to stick in your head upon the first listen.

“Zombie Bastards” almost sounds like something you’d hear from Twenty One Pilots. It’s super eccentric and filled with many different instruments and synths. Is it a zombie apocalypse anthem? 100%. It seems as it would be one of the more popular songs on the album. Much like the first song, it has a catchy chorus that sticks in your head.

The song, “Living In L.A.”, the fourth track on the album is one that I could see being played on the radio. It has some pop vibes flowing throughout the chorus due to the guitar and drum instrumentals, and overall, is a really great song. It’s definitely one of my favorites on the album.

“Byzantine” is a chill and calming song that reminds me of being on a beach. Coincidentally, it also reminds me of a Beach Boys-style song. It rings in as the second favorite of mine off this album. The guitar parts are really beautiful throughout.

The last song, “California Snow”, definitely stands out from the other songs. While I found that most of the songs each have a unique sound that does not really follow one genre, this one definitely sounds different compared to the rest of the album. But it’s not bad! It’s got a lot of interesting synths and instrumentals going on, and the vocals sound phenomenal. For being the last song on the tracklist, it really does a great job closing the Black album out.
