Woodstock Lineup Leaves Fans Wanting More

Written by Shelby Kazen

Woodstock 50 has announced their lineup and to say that fans were underwhelmed would be an understatement. Jay-Z, Chance the Rapper, Miley Cyrus, Imagine Dragons and Halsey are among the many artists headlining the festival.

Woodstock 50's mission states:

“Our 3 day celebration of peace, love and music proved that it is possible to live together in harmony and with compassion. Live with only our best selves represented. It gave people around the world hope. For Woodstock 50, we are supporting causes that represent the issues of our times…but our call to action is timeless. Stand with us. Make a difference. Help heal the planet and the people living on it. That’s what Woodstock is all about.”

To many, this seems to be more of a scam and couldn't be farther than what the original festival stood for. They can continue to bring on charities and preach about coming together as one, but it still doesn't take away the fact that many of the original genres appear to be an after thought on the lineup.

The festival did try to save it's reputation by including a few members of the original line up. This includes: Santana, David Crosby from Crosby, Stills, Nash, Dead and Company, John Fogerty from Creedence Clearwater Revival, Country Joe McDonald, Melanie and John Sebastian, Canned Heat, and Hot Tuna.

The Woodstock Music Festival was meant to be an event to express Peace, Love, and Music. It was created to bring people together regardless of age, race, and gender during a time of great social turmoil. With the recent announcement of Woodstock 50 many music lovers couldn't wait to hear what was in store for the 50th Anniversary Event.

Even with the handful of original lineup members, it feels that the only things missing are a few Soundcloud Rappers and a Kardashian for this to be a relocated version of Coachella.

Woodstock 50 is still set to take place August 16-18th and prices of tickets are unknown at this time
