The Toronto based punk band PUP (Pathetic Use of Potential) dropped two new songs from their upcoming album Morbid Stuff today.  Fans woke up to a Facebook post from PUP which states:

The post showcases ‘Sibling Rivalry’ which stays true to PUP's unique sound and angsty lyrics. This song focuses on wanting to help someone who isn’t willing to accept help.

“I'm not trying to stick it to you, but I've been trying to get through you and you didn't even notice just running through the motions don't test my patience cause I just can't take it”. - From the song, Sibling Rivalry

The lyrics really capture frustration and really wanting the best for someone who may not want it for themselves.

‘Scorpion Hill’ showcases a lighter sound than their traditional songs, but still stays true to who PUP is. The song goes back and forth transitioning between slow and fast sections.

“Down and Out, I’ve been on the rocks. I’ve been having some pretty dark thoughts. And I’m on the brink. Fallin deep into debt, Fallin deep into drink I can drown those regrets. I don’t have to think. Now I’m working the night shift, Asleep at the wheel. I was bursting apart like a flame from a spark thinkin Jesus, this can’t be for real”. - From the song, Scorpion Hill

Overall, it's done really well and showcases a lighter side of the band we don't normally see. The song captures the essence of losing your self through the motions of life.

PUP has released 4 songs off Morbid Stuff which also includes ‘kids’ and ‘Free at Last’.

Be sure to check out the full length album available April 5th and catch them on their upcoming tour.
