Picturesque, an alt rock band signed to Equal Vision Records, released a new spooky single, Crimes, just in time for Halloween. As well as a small Fall tour announcement.

The band’s sound on this song is much lighter right from the beginning, and showcases a different vocal range than we usually hear on their songs. We hear a genre that is more alternative, offering electric sounds throughout the instrumental parts. I wouldn’t call it a rock song, but I also wouldn’t call it bad. It fits well for the band and shows their ability to change genre and still be relevant and enjoyable. It would be interesting to hear the song live and see how they incorporate the song into a live performance.

“I’m sick of my feelings, forgetting the reasons. I’m drinking my demons away”. The song deals with darker topics, presented in an upbeat way, still making it relatable for fans and leaving them wanting more. Those lyrics are just a few of many well-written verses and choruses that fill this song.

While some may not be a fan of Picturesque’s new sound, I encourage those people to listen deeper and with an open mind, forgetting any of their past releases to just hear the song as it is presented.

The band is currently touring, and if you have not seen them live before, consider going out to a future show. The energy and insane vocals that are brought to the table are mind-blowing. (Also, if you’re a photographer, they’re super fun to photograph).
