Review: The BRKN at 924 Gilman

The BRKN

Standing at 13.1K on Instagram The BRKN are currently on tour opening for The Dangerous Summer.  Even though it took me way too long to figure out their band name due to the lack of vowels The BRKN is a band you wouldn’t want to miss live. Although the crowd was small when they started that clearly didn’t stop them or dull their energy.  Lead singer, Jacob Cade, clearly immediately tuned into the energy presented by the venue. 924 Gilman in Berkeley being a historic punk venue from the ’90s, although now having some flaws, it is amazing to see others inspired by its history.

Their pop-punk sound and near-flawless guitar solos had everyone hyped up (the main goal for any opening band). It very obvious that they love their jobs and have a massive passion for playing music. This could also be thanks to the fact that they have not been a band for very long, hopefully, their amazing spirit stays with them as they continue to grow.

Having only been around since June, The BRKN have quickly built a following and it is very easy to see why. Not only are they exceptional live performers but the little music that is actually available online is to die for if you like anything pop-punk. Even if you don’t like what they’ve put out so far they are potentially releasing more music soon. But in all honesty, you should check them out solely for their performance energy.

Thankfully their time on tour is not yet over and you can catch them on the rest of their tour with The Dangerous Summer:
