Connecticut-based metalcore band Currents premiered their new single “Poverty of Self” exclusively through SiriusXM Liquid Metal, along with the announcement that their second full-length album will be released spring of 2020 through Sharptone Records.
Currents made a lasting mark on the metalcore community with their debut album The Place I Feel Safest (2017), also released via Sharptone Records, leaving much to be desired in the follow-up from this band.
Currents have stripped away the melodic clean vocals explored on their EP I Let The Devil In (2018) to deliver a sinister blend of guttural vocals and pummelling breakdowns with this single. The band has fully embraced their deathcore elements, leaning on their intricate guitar work to set the stage for the upcoming release. Currents have given us plenty to chew on with “Poverty of Self” and we will have more details when the album announcement officially rolls out.
Although the song is not publicly released yet, you can listen to an unofficial stream of the song below.
