The Used sent fans into a craze earlier this week when they posted “12/6, theused.net” on their social media, leading to speculations of tour announcements and new music. We can now confirm that the emo rock legends are back with their new single “Blow Me” featuring Jason Butler of Fever 333, accompanied by a distorted lyric video displaying standout imagery from their earlier works.

Coming off the heels of their headlining run on the Rockstar Energy Disrupt Tour, The Used immediately went back into the studio for writing and recording new material. In an interview with Soundigest, bassist Jeph Howard was asked to comment on the new music. “It’s definitely shooting toward the first three records,” he explained. “A backwards vibe, but we’re still The Used and we can’t help but progress.”.

These words still ring true as this statement perfectly sums up “Blow Me”, fusing the matured post-hardcore sound reminiscent of their third studio album Lies for the Liars with a more alternative rock sound that is a clear progression from recent releases.

Jason Butler took to Instagram to comment on the collaboration, saying “Dear Everybody, This is only phase one. I heard the album 😈. That shit is actually next level. Don’t call it a comeback. These dudes never left.” Leaving fans to speculate on when The Used’s eighth studio album will officially be announced.

Taking Jason’s words with Jeph’s comments on the new sound, and that “Blow Me” is the representative single for what’s to come, The Used are giving long-time fans a great deal to get excited about.
