Poppy Releases Fourth Single “Fill The Crown” off Upcoming Album 'I Disagree'

Poppy continues her foray into heavy music with the release of the fourth single “Fill The Crown” off her upcoming third studio album I Disagree, which will be released through Sumerian Records on January 10th, 2020.

“Fill The Crown” follows her previous singles “Concrete”, the title track “I Disagree”, and “Bloodmoney,” each of which have already surpassed a million views on YouTube. 

The track fuses an electro-glitch pop style on the chorus with a chugging riff and uncredited guest vocals on the verses. These guest vocals contribute a very Marilyn Manson-style delivery that is suspected to come from hip hop artist Ghostemane. 

An ode to arthouse cinema, the accompanying video can be quite perplexing. However, it may be indicating that Poppy is accepting herself as the new artist she has come to be on I Disagree.  

When interviewed by Upset Magazine back in September, Poppy was asked to comment on the single “Concrete.” “We just wanted to see if we could one-up ‘X’. And I feel like we did,” she explained. “It’s a taste of what is to come on the new album, but we’re leaning harder into the heavier direction on the rest of the record, which is exciting. I feel like I’ve got to awaken this dormant creature inside of me.” 

This “dormant creature” continues to shine through on the recent singles, which have certainly validated her statement about leaning into the heavier side the this upcoming record. 

Poppy full embraced the scene by touring with Bring Me the Horizon and Sleeping With Sirens on the Threesome Tour earlier this year, and is set to embark on the North American and  UK/EU legs of the I Disagree Tour in early 2020. Support has not yet been announced for the North American leg, but the tech-metal band Lotus Eater and Australian duo VOWWS will be support for the UK/EU leg.
