Canadian post-hardcore outfit Alexisonfire debuted their new single “Season of the Flood” last night on BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show with Daniel P Carter. Alexisonfire initially teased the song in a tweet on January 10th, with the caption “00:00:04:06”. “Season of the Flood” will be officially released on January 14th, 2020, making it the third single from the band since their reunion back in February of 2019.

“Season of the Flood” is a stark difference in sound from the previously released singles, “Familiar Drugs” and “Complicit”, which were both fast-paced and riff-heavy. It’s a moody combination of eerie ambience, coated in City and Colour influence, and explosive post-hardcore, reminiscent of Alexisonfire’s earlier material. The slow, building nature of the song is comparable to that of “The Northern” off 2009’s Old Crows / Young Cardinals, demonstrating that the band is willing to explore their past works for inspiration for future releases.

Alexisonfire will be embarking on a North American tour from January 20th to 26th and will be bringing The Distillers and NOBRO along with them. You can find the link to tickets on our Show Directory page here.
