Late in 2019, Paramore’s Hayley Williams revealed she would be releasing solo music very shortly and that fans could expect to get a taste of it in January. On Monday, January 20th, Willams took to Twitter to officially announce the release date for her first single, “Simmer”, which has finally arrived as of today.

Along with the single came a new music video and news that “Simmer” would be attached to her solo debut album Petals for Armor, set for release on May 8th, 2020.

The song, co-written by Paramore’s guitarist Taylor York and bassist Joey Howard, is very avant-garde for Williams; it is toned down and displays her vocals in an entirely new way. It has its own edginess about it, while still being mellow at heart. The song has its own sense of mystery to it, and the video follows suit.

Check out “Simmer” for yourself below.
