Back in January, New Found Glory were teasing news about an upcoming album, and while details have been sparse up to this point, the band has finally announced the wait is over. These pop-punk veterans will follow up 2017’s Makes Me Sick with Forever and Ever x Infinity, set to release May 29th, 2020 through Hopeless Records. They have also released the lead single, “Greatest Of All Time”, off the upcoming album.
For the last 21 years, the band has stood the test of time in the rock music scene, constantly changing their colors to form new sounds, while still remaining within the confines of creating the addicting New Found Glory pop-punk muse we have grown to love over the years. While this is true, it is quite clear that the band likes to have fun with their records, not being afraid to test the waters with new sounds, as was clearly proven with the use of island instrumental energy in “The Sound of Two Voices” on Makes Me Sick.
With infectious guitar licks that we heard on 2004’s Catalyst, to Jordan Pundick’s amazing grasp on creating catchy lyrics and melodies that stay in your head for days, the band shows they are retracing their roots of Nothing Gold Can Stay, while still embracing the new and exciting instrumental soundscape of the modern era. But tracks like “Say It Don’t Spray It” show that they are not shy about playing with instrumental variations to have a great record.
Here is the track list for the upcoming album, Forever and Ever x Infinity:
1. Shook By Your Shaved Head
2. Greatest of All Time
3. Double Chin For the Win
4. Nothing To Say
5. Stay Awhile
6. Himalaya
7. Same Side Sitters
8. Like I Never Existed
9. More and More
10. Do You Want To Settle Down?
11. The Way You Deserve
12. Trophy
13. Scarier Than Jason Vorhees At a Campfire
14. Birthday Song But Not Really
15. Slipping Away
Whatever the new release holds for us, rest assured that the band will always be in touch with the sounds they grew up with, but will continue to experiment lyrically and instrumentally to make something that will stick with us long after we are done listening.
