It seems to be a reoccurring theme as of late for bands to be collaborating with other artist of different genres. But the tables have turned, as well-known EDM artist Steve Aoki is turning to one of our favorite artists in the scene. Aoki has come together with legendary drummer Travis Barker and new hip-hop artist Global Dan to create the track “Halfway Dead”. “Halfway Dead” hits all the right notes, as the electro-pop punk experience gives us something truly infectious to enjoy from start to finish.

Aoki has worked with top acts, such as Linkin Park, Blink 182, and Fall Out Boy, so this collaboration should come as no surprise to some. It has been a genre the EDM artist has loved to work in for quite some time. So when it came to creating something that possessed the vibes of a pop-punk track, but also infuses some pretty amazing hip hop and electronic flavors into the mix, going to Aoki to complete such a musical movement only seems to have been the right choice.

While Aoki has worked with hardcore outfits in the past under his label Dim Mak, working within this genre has been pretty new to him as opportunities such as this were scarce earlier in his career. Now as a producer, Aoki has been approaching music in a different light, if he cant sign the artist he wants to work with, he fights to work with them.

Aoki has since signed Global Dan to DIm Mak and will continue to help write and produce his debut album. Along with this amazing news, the two with be going on tour to support Aoki’s latest full length effort Neon Future IV. While Aoki has worked and fought hard to reach the status he has been able to obtain now, we can be sure that this is only one of many other collaborations that Aoki will have with other great artist in the scene.
