New Hampshire-based metalcore four-piece TrueShot have announced their new single “Paradigm”, featuring Aidan Holmes of Dealer, will be available Friday, March 13th. Along with the single, the band will be releasing a music video, which can be found on their official YouTube page here, and are currently hosting a giveaway of a Nintendo Switch Lite for pre-saving the single.
Following the release of their debut EP Escape, TrueShot landed opening slots for such heavy hitters as Crown the Empire, Oh Sleeper, Attila, and more. “Paradigm” is the first release since the 2019 EP, and it’s clear the band are staking their claim in heavy music.
Dealing with themes of drug addiction, the loss of family, and the response from onlookers, TrueShot hold nothing back on “Paradigm”. “I guess I’d say this song comes from a frustrated point of view,” said vocalist Richard Janvrin. “There is a bit of a chip on my shoulder because of my upbringing and how no one, up until myself, was able to break that cycle. It wears on you when you’re simply trying to give something your all and instead, you’re looked at as arrogant.”
TrueShot has been quoted as taking influence from several metalcore and hardcore acts, including Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, Emmure, and As I Lay Dying, among others, and those influences shine through on this release. Leaning into a metallic hardcore sound, “Paradigm” opens on a beautifully nasty riff that erupts into a melodic bounce, reminiscent of something from Knocked Loose’s most recent album A Different Shade of Blue. Aidan Holmes sounds perfectly at home on this track, complementing TrueShot’s lows with his patented brand of abrasive screams.
Be sure to pre-save “Paradigm” for your chance to win a Nintendo Switch Lite, and check back on March 13th to hear the full track!
