Canadian band Protest The Hero dropped new music for the first time in four years on Thursday, along with a new album announcement. The lead single, titled “The Canary,” features the chaotic, groovy energy this band is known for, along with an anthemic chorus. The band’s upcoming fifth studio album Palimpsest is set for a June 19th release.

Music from the progressive band is a welcome surprise, following vocalist Rody Walker’s time off due to vocal issues. Protest The Hero postponed work on the album and cancelled live shows in Europe and Japan after Walker admitted he feared he could permanently damage his voice. It seems he’s in singing shape once again, as the band gears up to release more new music.

Preorder bundles can be found here, including a pineapple habanero hot sauce called Palimpsauce.
