In Hearts Wake Collab With Polaris on New Single “Hellbringer”

In Hearts Wake recruited Jamie Hails of Polaris for their new single “Hellbringer” from their upcoming album, Kaliyuga. In Hearts Wake and Polaris are both from Australia, so it’s fun for us to see the Aussies working together, even if Jamie is a werewolf in the music video.

In Hearts Wake have been teasing tracks for the upcoming album, starting with “Worldwide Suicide” in March. The band also released “Son Of A Witch” in April, and is continuing their trend by releasing “Hellbringer” in May.

“Hellbringer” is a song about the different stereotypes that revolve around metal and scene music. While some may not understand or enjoy the music, it doesn't mean this genre doesn’t have a strong message. The band repeats “Are you afraid of what you don’t know?” because people are so quick to judge before they try to understand heavier music. The lyrics in the bridge of the song are:

“They curse “the devil’s music” and say we murder to it

They pray for those who can’t be saved

If waking words are treason and mother earth a demon

Then I’m a fucking sinner

So go ahead and pull the trigger

Hellbringer”

In Hearts Wake didn’t give Jamie Hails the bridge of the song, as many artists do when adding a feature, but the Polaris frontman takes over the entire second verse and makes a bold entrance in the music video while howling at the moon. In Hearts Wake and Jamie show that they are not ashamed of the music they make and promote listening to this genre when they scream, “Turn it up. It’s so infuriating, this is no place for hate.”

The music video starts with a protest outside of where In Hearts Wake is playing and the song refers to the band and the genre of music they play as the hellbringers. The theme of this music video takes a turn to the disco as well to showcase who is “dancing with the devil.” There is also “blood” raining down that is later labeled as strawberry jelly. In short, don’t judge a book by its cover.

The band hinted to fans that a collab with Polaris was in the making on April Fools this year by hiding Jamie Hails’ face in the flames of a social media post. The band has used this type of visual in the past on their previous album covers, but many fans did not guess the eyes and face hidden in the flames. Talk about some suspense.

Polaris made an impact on the scene world in 2020 on their own with the release of their newest album The Death of Me. This Australian band hadn’t released a new album since 2017 and came back with a bang with this sophomore album. This is a solid modern metalcore album and is arguably one of the best metal albums of 2020 so far.

In Hearts Wake have also announced they have not only one, but three features on their upcoming album. These features include actress Georgia Flood on “Crossroads” and Randy Reimann of Massappeal on “Iron Dice.” In the past, In Hearts Wake have not had many features on their albums, and had none on their previous album “Ark” in 2017. However, the deluxe edition of “Ark” had features from CJ McMahon of Thy Art Is Murder and CJ Gilpin of Dream State.

“Kaliyuga” is predicted to be an intense and impactful album this year. In Hearts Wake likes to create a statement with their music and likes to focus your attention on climate change and other environmental crises in the world. The band has also gone as far as using recycled materials for the manufacturing of their CD and vinyl packaging to help minimize their carbon footprint.

These limited edition vinyls of “Kaliyuga” are available for presale as of today at unfdstore.com. There are five different designs to choose from, but there is a limited quantity per design.
