The Alphabrat Releases Video for Debut Single "Pretty World"
Austria-native, The Alphabrat, has released a music video for her debut single “Pretty World”. Discussing several aspects of today’s society, “Pretty World” is a call-to-action for listeners to seize the day and pursue their passion in life.
Sonically, The Alphabrat fuses a classic punk sound - reminiscent of bands such as The Offspring - with the raw vocal delivery of new wave rock - similar to The Cure. This style of rock historically compliments the in-your-face nature of the lyrical content, which is exemplified in “Pretty World”.
“Pretty World is about a lot of things that I think are wrong in today’s society,” says Savana Alphabrat, front-woman of The Alphabrat. “The second verse - In this so material world, you don’t have to choose / If you see with your heart, you’re the one to lose / No way to take your chances and you sit there over-bored / And the old religious Christians still pray to the lord - is meant to be sarcastic. People are taught to do jobs they don’t actually like just for the money, instead of going after their passions in life.”
Lyrically, the chorus bluntly gets to the main message of the song. “F**k off, pretty world - is just me saying I don’t want to be a part of a society that tries to put others down.” Savana continues, “I know there are people out there that are too scared to tell people they are sick of their behaviour, so I thought I would do it for them. That is what is important to me as an artist. I am my authentic self, and I want to be an inspiration to others to do that for themselves.”
While this is just the beginning of what is to come from The Alphabrat, she has a clear idea of what she stands for as an artist. Check out the official video for “Pretty World” below and keep an eye out for what comes next!
