REVIEW: Widow 7 "Shadow Me"

This weekend, Iowa band Widow 7 dropped a sonically gravid track, "Shadow Me” via Modern Tiger Records. The unapologetically ambitious band is fronted by former vocalist and co-founder of Orchards, Mark Leon, banding together with his ragtag group of revolutionaries "The Delinquents.”

Widow 7 describes their band as a "home for people afraid to be themselves." This statement could not be further from the truth. "Shadow Me" reeks of confidence from start to finish. From the immensely talented unclean vocal range, distinct rough cleans reminiscent of hard-rock bands from the late ‘90s, and tastefully peppered in infectious rap lyrics, it's hard not to get wrapped up in the nostalgic virility they bring to the table.

Instrumentally, "Shadow Me" oozes with pythonic guitar riffs that coat the entire track intermingling with vast rapacious drums that go toe for toe with each other every step of the way, creating a wonderfully engaging listening experience.

Though “Shadow Me” is only the first track we have heard from this band, if the rest of their releases sound every bit as explosive as this, it's safe to say we have another amazing band on our hands.

Check out the new track down below.
