Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens has been using his downtime to not only feature on a handful of songs but use this time to create music through a side project entitled Downer Inc. and that EP is finally out today! Kellin worked on this project with Cameron Mizell who helped produce the Sleeping With Sirens records Feel and With Ears To See And Eyes To Hear. A few months ago Kellin posted about the project on his Instagram where he said that the project is him putting his hopelessness and his fears in a musical diary of sorts.

If anything, this project just shows how versatile Kellin’s vocal range is. “Ground Zero” kicks off the EP and this song introduces us to the world of Downer Inc. perfectly. Lyrically the track is essentially telling the listener that in order to make changes we have to stand up and fight for what is right. Given the current climate of the world, this song is more relevant than ever. “Generation Z,” the first track released from the project, touches on the struggles of finding love in the current state of the world. “Work Of Art” is the next track on the EP. Kellin and Eliza Grace‘s vocals work so well together on this track!

“Letdown” is definitely one of the more emotional tracks on the EP. The instruments on this track compliment the song so well and help to create the atmosphere of Kellin essentially calling out for help. The next track “Truth Or Dare” is the complete opposite and tells the listener to essentially pick themselves back up from a dark place and that even when things are bad, you can still make it through. It is definitely a song you should listen to if you are lacking confidence or if this year has absolutely drained you emotionally. Everything is temporary and this song definitely gives the listener that sense of hope that things will get better! “Whatever This Is” closes out the EP and is just overall a fun track.

Every song brings something different to the table sonically and overall it was a super fun listen. Would highly recommend it to those who are familiar with Sleeping With Sirens and are looking to hear a completely different side of Kellin Quinn.

Overall we give it a 3.5/5

Also make sure to give the EP a listen and let us know what you think! If you want to support Kellin there is also merch you can check out here.
