Aristic Showcases Instrumental Versatility on ‘Tig/Tala’

Swedish solo artist Aristic officially self-released his genre-fluid LP Tig/Tala across streaming platforms on October 28th, 2022. Tig/Tala, loosely translating to “Silence/Speak,” represents the instrumental and vocal mixes on the record—Tig and Tala, respectively. Throughout the entirety of the record, listeners will experience elements of metalcore, deathcore, progressive metal, Nu metal, and even electronicore—needless to say, there’s something for any fan of heavy music.

Opening Tig/Tala is the three-track string of pummelling anthems in “Misanthrope,” “Bazinga,” and “Elements.” While each track of the Tala section of the record features a different vocalist from across the globe, including those from Sweden, France, United Kingdom, and United States, it’s the third track “Elements” that jumps out as a strong highlight. With stuttering riffs, an electronicore backdrop, and a soaring chorus from Johan Segerstrom, it’s a must-hear for any fans of Veil of Maya or Gojira. Another highlight of the record is “Vir4l” featuring Evvi, the vocalist for UK Nu metal outfit NO:IR. “Vir4l” fuses melodic flows and bouncy riffs in the vein of Dropout Kings or UnityTX, a true showcase of Aristic’s versatility and the range of sounds you’ll hear throughout the entirety of the record.

Similar to artists as Bilmuri and the recent release from Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Aristic is a multi-instrumentalist that invites a new vocalist onto each track throughout the record. As a concept album, Tig/Tala deals with world issues as a decaying environment, ensuing war, life-consuming social media, and more. While some members of the heavy music community are less open to the idea of a rotating lineup of vocalists for a project, there’s no denying the platform it provides to discover experimental music.
