Finding Solace Through Your Craft: On Worth The Wait's Single "OBEY//DECAY"

Worth The Wait

Worth The Wait

Ohio natives Worth The Wait are no strangers to the grind of working hard on their craft. Having bought to us "BLACKWATER" back in November of last year, the band has noticeably grown since their hard beginnings back in 2011 with their Remembrance EP back in 2012.

Now it seems the band is ready to kick things into high gear with their new single "OBEY//DECAY." Still keeping their vocal energy and unique ethereal elements ever-present within their instrumental framework, this track digs emotionally deeper into the health crisis and political unrest that still threatens the world today.

"The song was written on a whim of some bottled feelings. I wanted something heavy, something in your face. After all, It was a new year, and after all the bullshit we had to deal with in 2020, From the pandemic, to protests, to the election, to the capital riots, we were ready to unleash a heavy banger. After dealing with things for so long, with a glimpse of an end to it, It just felt appropriate."

While the track is emotionally tied to the world's delicate state and problems at the moment, Worth The Wait was thankful in the sense that this was the easiest recording process to date for a single with such heavy lyrical magnitude.

"The process was the smoothest we have ever had to be honest.

Like INCREDIBLY smooth. Joe laid down some guitars and drums, sent me the clip, I said “yes.” Then a few hours later he sent me another clip, and I said “YES.” Before I knew we had a song, he sent me the files, I imported them and tracked out some demo vocals, Just like, a layer or two, just to give him an idea of what I wanted, and we ended up actually keeping them in and just rolling with it. It all just fell together. Then the post-pro was super easy because we knew we had to have something more. The original song was only like 1:34 or something. So I wrote some piano parts to give it some dynamic range."

While the world continues to try to figure things out, Worth The Wait invites their fans and new listeners to take their new single as a source of comfort for the troubling times that are still uncertain and are still ahead for many of us.

"I hope they feel the emotion that we felt when we recorded it. I hope it's something that they can listen to and not feel alone in the situation. We hope they can better understand us within it as well. Plus, it’s a pretty hype song that’s going to be a ton of fun to perform live."

The band also has plans to keep the ball rolling for their emerging paths to success this year as Worth the Wait is developing their website and even an additional subscription for dedicated fans.

"We have a new set of merch dropping this week on our new website. But we’re moving quickly to get everything in working order. There you will be able to buy merch, contact us directly, and we’re creating an exclusive membership for premium content, and close contact with us, as well as listening to new music before it drops, and access to exclusive streams."
