Scene Daddy is thrilled to announce that we are sponsoring New Friends Fest 2022! New Friends DIY is a Toronto-based collective that has been putting on DIY punk shows for the past 5 years and this summer from July 29-31 they are holding their third weekend-long summer festival in their hometown.

The lineup for this year’s fest is once again full of artists who play passionate and cathartic heavy music in the realms of post-hardcore, screamo, and emo. The bill includes local orchestral blackened screamo group Respire, Californian emo artist awakebutstillinbed, Virginian heavy post-rock band Shy, Low, and so much more. If you are a fan of those subgenres, get ready to discover some of your new favorite independent acts in the scene!

The event is bigger than ever with more bands than previous years and support from the likes of essential hardcore label Deathwish Inc. and us here at Scene Daddy! We are very excited to be a part of this year’s New Friends Fest because of the music first and foremost, but also because of the fest’s focus on being safe, welcoming, and fun for everyone. The organizers make it clear that a key tenet of New Friends events is inclusivity – bands and attendees are people from all walks of life who simply love loud music and want to enjoy it with fellow fans and creatives.
