Make Them Suffer have unleashed their new single and music video “Contraband.” This marks the first new material from the band since last year’s How To Survive A Funeral. The new track is the band’s first-ever guest feature, starring Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante.

The band's Sean Harmanis says of the track: "Contraband came together centred around one of the riffs in the song that we'd aptly named the 'floppy fingers' riff. We'd actually had this [riff] in the bank since way back in 2016. As the song came together, we decided that it was a great opportunity to include Make Them Suffer's first-ever guest feature, and we couldn't have picked anyone better than Courtney! She was a joy to work with and showed such a great enthusiasm toward the song and her parts."

Sean adds, "Lyrically, the song is about everything and nothing at the same time. It's about relationships with friends and family. But it's also a low-key political song, as well as an expression of the frustrations surrounding COVID and its impact on our lives, particularly as members of the music community.

"Contraband is a build-up – the result of two years without musical catharsis."

The new single feels like a guttural duet between Harmanis and Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante, who delivers her own set of heavy vocals through verse two: “They want you dead. / They want you finished. / They want you signed, sealed, and delivered. / Sent to your end. / A flame extinguished. / Another crooked soul to relinquish.”— her commanding vocal presence complements Harmanis’ style so well.

Make Them Suffer’s keyboardist/vocalist Booka Nile takes a captivating charge of the chorus as Harmanis fades into the background. “Contraband” is a brilliant banger that rips and shreds its way through absolute chaos and destruction; the Perth metalcore act raises the bar even further with this frenzied composition. A wicked collaboration — Make Them Suffer couldn’t have possibly chosen a better artist to guest-star on a track! Pure chill-inducing...
