Temple of Shadows Release Debut “The Hermit”

Temple of Shadows is a new progressive rock band fronted by ex-Ice Nine Kills guitarist Justin ‘JD’ deBlieck and Joel DeMartino, who have just dropped their debut single “The Hermit” across all major streaming platforms. Moving away from the in-your-face metalcore we’ve come to expect from JD’s time with Ice Nine Kills, Temple of Shadows relies on soaring choruses and delicate guitar work to achieve an incredibly satisfying listener experience.

“The Hermit” is the lead single for an unannounced concept album, where each song is representative of a given tarot card. “Our vision for this project was to combine our collective love for various genres of music while incorporating a unique and thought provoking, but ultimately relatable concept,” says JD. “The result is a continuous forward moving energy that propels you from moment-to-moment throughout each characters stories.” DeMartino adds, “Temple of Shadows is more than a couple guys getting together to write songs. It’s a conceptual journey, where we explore the archetypes and their relationship to the alchemical process and its pursuit of the philosophers stone.

“The Hermit” immediately establishes an infectious duelling vocal style for Temple of Shadows. Underneath this effective call-and-answer lyrical delivery, high-energy progressive rock merges with alternative metal, familiar to a Protest The Hero meets Periphery. An impressive introduction to say the least, Temple of Shadows is a band we will be following closely in 2022. Be sure to check out the official lyric video for “The Hermit” below!
