When it comes to naturally talented musicians such as Brian Kang, the music flows through his veins naturally. The 25-year-old Korean New Jersey native knows what it's like to work your way from the bottom and reach early success in his early years. The self-taught guitarist has dedicated ten years of his life to this artistry, specializing in rock and metal genres within the industry.

Known for his often ostentatious, melodic, and gigantesque style, Kang consistently brings a highly technical and energic presence to any project he has put himself on.

Kang was an original founding member of New York-based visual rock band SKIVER and has also lent his talents as a rhythm guitarist to a well-known New York metal band in the scene, Another Day's Armor.

Throughout all of this, his vast efforts in the scene would land him immense roles on stage the huge acts such as A Day To Remember, Of Mice and Men, In The Moment, Beartooth and has also opened for Skid Row, Miss May I, and The Word Alive.

While Brian is currently a solo artist, Kang's experience speaks leaps and bounds to his commitment to his craft and music. His natural talents as a guitarist have garnered him much attention in the scene, putting out covers on YouTube at his leisure. Kang is also collaborating with other artists for future projects, but for now, Scene Daddy is picking this talented artist's brain for what his favorite albums are!

Listen to his latest Kenny Mason “U in a Gang // Exxon” guitar cover down below!

The first album I ever bought was?

Green Day’s American Idiot! I was 8 years old when my Dad bought it at Target for me.

An album I wish I created was?

I wish I created White Noise by PVRIS. It’s such a perfect and eclectic album! That album is such a huge influence on my songwriting

Favorite Album Art?

I’m stuck between 3. Fall Out Boy’s Folie A Deux because I’m a sucker for vibrantly-colored oil paintings, or Escape The Fate’s This War Is Ours and GN’R’s Appetite For Destruction because I love when bands market themselves using caricatures of themselves

Someone asked what my definition of rock was, the album I told them to listen to was?

Angelic Hoodrat by Kenny Mason. The lines of what defines rock music have been blurred, with heavy guitars and acoustic drums falling out of popularity. I think rock is more of an attitude you carry in your music. Angelic Hoodrat is a rap album, but it definitely showcases a more modern fusion of the genres and carries that said attitude.

An album I can drive around to nonstop is?

Asymmetry by Mallory Knox! That album has been my go-to night drive soundtrack for years!

An album I'm addicted to listening to is?

Angelic Hoodrat: Supercut by Kenny Mason

An album no one will believe I listen to or own is?

The Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack. Those BGM’s were and still are fire haha.

An album I detest most is?

I don’t have an album I dislike. I’d have to come back to you on that haha.

An album that takes me back to my childhood?

Move Along by The All American Rejects. That album came out when I was 8 and it always brings me on nostalgia trips every time I listen to it

An album that got me got me into my career as a musician?

Set The World On Fire from Black Veil Brides. That album built my guitar playing and technique. I wouldn’t be here had I not listened to that album.

The soundtrack to my life would be?

Probably Black and White by The Maine. It’s got a good vibe to it, just like me haha.

An album that will always hold sentimental value is?

Dying Is Your Latest Fashion by Escape The Fate, because Monte Money’s guitar work on that album was the reason I wanted to pick up a guitar

If you were left stranded on an island with nothing but a CD player, batteries, and one album, which album would you want to be left with to pass the time?

Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon by the late Pop Smoke. It’s a very cool, vibey, and hard album that’ll definitely keep my spirits up.

This album got me through the toughest of times?

Any of Spite’s discography. Nothing like pure misanthropy and spite to get you through your rough patches haha.
