Another One Down! Are "Stuck In The Wake" of Heartbreak on New Single
Rhode Island pop-punk five piece Another One Down! (AOD! for short), have self-released their latest single “Stuck In The Wake”. Staying true to their pop-punk roots, AOD! tackle the topic of toxic relationships in a catchy, yet contrastingly upbeat tone.
“Stuck in the Wake” was written from the perspective of a concerned friend who's watching someone he cares about repeatedly go back to their toxic significant other, says the band. “With its groovy laid back verses and massive catchy chorus, the song falls more on the alternative side of the pop-punk genre.” Groovy verses and catchy choruses are the perfect descriptors for AOD! as a project, and certainly this latest single.
Knowing where they fit into the ever-changing definition of “pop-punk”, AOD! are following in the footsteps of pop-punk staples The Story So Far and All Time Low, while incorporating alternative influence from bands such as Death Cab For Cutie and American Football. Ultimately, this makes for a sound that is simultaneously uplifting and melodramatic - not uncommon in the genre, yet AOD! seem to execute it better than most other attempts.
Both “Stuck In The Wake” and their 2019 single “Sulk” are indicative of the musical direction AOD! are planning to tread over the coming year. If you’re into this latest single, there is plenty more to follow says the band; “We plan on releasing a number of singles over the course of the next few months leading up to the release of our first full length record early next year.”
