20 Artists Under 20K Followers You Need to Check Out in 2020

With a new year comes new opportunities for bands to make a name for themselves in this scene. Between stellar recent releases and promising tour announcements, we have compiled a list of 20 artists currently under 20K followers (per Instagram) that are more-than-deserving of our readers attention in 2020.
Airways (10.2K)
A soft blend between Nothing But Thieves and Arctic Monkeys, alternative indie band Airways is the up-and-coming British act you’ve been missing from all of your playlists.
Arrested Youth (10.7K)
Quickly blowing up for his often politically-driven songs, Ian Johnson, also known as Arrested Youth, has masterfully combined alternative influence and hip-hop on the new EP Sobville (Episode I). The follow-up to 2018’s Fear, can be streamed everywhere now.
Between You and Me (14K)
This Australian pop-punk band was one of my favourite discoveries of 2019. While they deliver a similar pop-punk sound currently being produced by many other acts, the vocals delivered by Jake Wilson are smooth and a clear standout amongst the rest of the scene.
Can’t Swim (19.2K)
Can’t Swim have made a bold transition from pop-punk to heavy punk, making their newest EP Foreign Language one of the best of 2019 and taking their live shows to the next level.

Dead Posey (8.3K)
Dead Posey sounds like the love-child of The Pretty Reckless and Dorothy with their vocal deliveries and epic guitar work. With only one EP under their belt, Freak Show, this band gives fans much to be desired from upcoming releases.
Des Rocs (18.5K)
Brooklyn-based rockstar Des Rocs brings vintage rock back into this modern era and it has to be one of my favourite sounds in the rock scene right now. You can check out both of his EP’s, Let the Vultures In and Martyr Parade, now!
De’Wayne Jackson (17.3K)
While being labelled as a rapper, De’Wayne Jackson’s genre blending has landed him opening slots for bands such as Waterparks and Set It Off. He continues to gain a great number of fans in the alternative music scene, which is likely due to his contagious stage presence.
Fredo Disco (9.1K)
Break out your flannel and old vans because Fredo Disco is delivering a bold mix of pop-punk breakup songs and boyish charm perfect for college dropouts and overachieving highschool students alike.
Heart Attack Man (8.6K)
Being discussed recently in Scene Daddy article, most of our readers have likely already heard of Heart Attack Man. However, this doesn’t mean that we can’t push you towards listening to their infectious new album Fake Blood again and again.

Homesafe (11.1K)
Delivering a sound reminiscent of 2011’s The Story So Far, Homesafe is a band on the fast-track to success. After being apart of quite a few tours in 2019, you can expect to find this band continuing their support role in 2020.
Kuromi (2.5K)
Pure female chaos, that is the best description of this band. This band doesn’t hold anything back and is sure to attract more punk-dedicated fans in the years to come.
Limbs (4.3K)
Soon to join Beartooth and Motionless In White on the Diseased & Disguised tour, Limbs brand of heavy vocals and even heavier instrumentals are sure to bring in a new era of fans. Opening bands deserve a great deal of love, so this is our push to get you to check them out before you see them tear up the stage in 2020.
Nothing Left (7.6K)
Another band joining the Diseased & Disguised tour, Nothing Left just recently released their debut album Disconnected through Facedown Records. Instrumentally, this band comes together to deliver some of the best work of 2019, making them a must-see act.
Picturesque (17.2K)
Picturesque front-man Kyle Hollis rivals the likes of Kellin Quinn in terms of vocal range, making their upcoming second album one of the most anticipated albums of 2020.

Selfish Things (5.9K)
Selfish Things have been busy in 2019, with the release of their debut album Logos and being apart of two tours. Sounding very similar to Twenty-One Pilots, this band deserve a great deal of praise.
Sleep On It (18.9K)
Sleep On It has become known for their amazing energy, similar to that of The Maine, making this band one of the most desirable live performances of 2019. I was fortunate enough to have caught them on more than one occasion, and I am ever greatly for it.
Super Whatevr (15.5K)
Another pop-punk favourite, Super Whatevr have built quite a loyal following, yet they remain one of the most underrated bands in the scene. With a new album and U.S. tour on the horizon in 2020, it is time the scene supports this band.
Telltale (3K)
This is the best pop-punk band I have ever discovered through an ad on Instagram. Telltale is the embodiment of Neck Deep’s 2013 EP Rain In July, that this scene is more than familiar with. Although this band has been around for quite some time, Telltale remains one of the smaller bands on this list. It is time for this band to stop flying under the radar and get the recognition they deserve.
Thousand Below (14.1K)
With two albums to their name, Thousand Below are quickly becoming one of the most notable bands in the scene. Their debut album The Love You Let Too Close delivers a truly passionate post-hardcore sound, while their second release Gone In Your Wake is more experimental and one to tug on the heart strings.

Vanish (18.2K)
With a comparison in sound to 2012 Pierce the Veil, Vanish delivers incredibly strong vocals and an amazing band dynamic that should not be ignored in 2020.
Yours Truly (13.7K)
Female-fronted pop-punk band from Australia, Your Truly are yet another example of underrated vocal performances. Contributing the same power and emotion to their music as bands such as Doll Skin, Yours Truly put their entire heart into their music.
