Deftones Will Take Gojira and Poppy Out on North American Summer Tour

Deftones announced their first North American headlining dates in three years yesterday. The alternative metal trailblazers will be joined by Gojira and Poppy for the summer dates. Deftones have been relatively quiet on the touring front in recent years, aside from festivals, including their own ‘Dia de los Deftones’.

The band also announced last year they’re working on a new album, their first since 2016’s Gore, with vocalist Chino Moreno predicting the album would be ready for a 2020 release.

Gojira tweeted they’ve “dreamed about touring with [Deftones] for decades.” While Poppy’s origins may be in pop, her newest album I Disagree incorporates elements of metal. She also collaborated with Fever 333 for her song “Scary Mask” last year, suggesting her foray into rock and metal could just be beginning.
