What Are You Listening To During Quarantine?

Social distancing and self-isolation are leaving most of us with a lot of extra time on our hands. Self-care is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves while isolating, and we absolutely consider music a form of self-soothing. From new to old, here are some of the albums and songs we’ve been jamming to get us through quarantine.

Schae Beaudoin

Crack the Skye by Mastodon

I forgot how good Crack the Skye was until “The Last Baron” came up on shuffle. It’s one of those albums you can get lost in and pick out something new every listen.

You’ll Be Fine by Hot Mulligan

Hot Mulligan’s newest album features some of the band’s best songwriting to date. The band explores a lot of negative emotions, perfect for the confusion, anger and sadness the world is experiencing right now.

Time + Space by Turnstile

Turnstile always manage to be both heavy and catchy, meaning they’re perfect whether you’re looking to get out some aggression or be distracted by some good tunes.

Audrey Caron

Wake Up Sunshine by All Time Low

If it weren’t for this album coming out when it did I think I may have gone insane during quarantine. It's got the perfect vibe to make you forget about everything going on in the world and in my opinion the best album this band has ever put out.

Hello There by Saving Vice

A super solid album by a band that has worked so hard to get where they are. Some personal favorites are “Eyes Up” and “Before I Go”. Give it a listen if you haven’t already.

Miss Fortune by Miss Fortune

I’m going to be honest and say that I have never really listened to them in the past but I heard “Fentanyl” when I was listening to new music to add to our playlists and immediately got hooked. The album has some bangers, “Exit Strategy” being another one of my favorites. Check it out!

Ryan Porter

Woven Material by Evaline

Evaline's Progressive Indie Rock 2011 Full length release outdid everything they set out to accomplish on their previous EP "Postpartum Modesty" with a album reeking in rich bombastic depth that's rarely ever been replicated to the same degree. Definitely recommend this record for anyone looking to expand their musical palette.

COPE by GLOW

An EP being mastered by scene maestro Kris Crummett and the  produced by Jordan Haynes of Artifex Pereo help craft a energetic and vibrant sound GLOW galvanizes like a lightning rod on their 2020 release. This EP and the one prior leaves you wanting more and I look forward to future releases because the potential of this band reeks from all of their releases.

ANEMORIA EP by Anemoria

With recent releases like Jelly Beans and Cashmere Jungle I always find myself back at this first EP first released back in 2018 when I need a little more from these guys. A dazzling spectacle of technical musicians crafting around pop inspired vocal melodies that create a genuine unique experience for all listeners.

Tyler Johnson

A Beautiful Place to Drown by Silverstein

Silverstein’s most recent album has been a staple on my rotation since its release in March. With some of the most experimental sounds the band has ever explored, they still manage to maintain the essence of Silverstein that drew me in when I first heard “Smile In Your Sleep”. The record as a whole also has this overwhelming “summery” vibe that keeps my spirits lifted during these difficult times.

The Death of Me by Polaris

Polaris’ second full-length took everything they did on their debut album ‘The Mortal Coil’ and improved it ten-fold. Filled with passionate screams, dissonant riffs, and heavy breakdowns, this album is one that will definitely make an appearance on my ‘Top Album of 2020’ list.

GlitchGang by Dropout Kings

This 6-track EP is packed full of energy, and quite reminiscent of early Linkin Park - a comparison that can be tough to come by. While this style of music has not been my go-to for some time, Dropout Kings are bringing a creative originality that I haven’t heard in years.
