SHVPES Announce Breakup

English metalcore band SHVPES have decided it's the end of the line for their talented band. The Birmingham natives first ignited the scene back in 2009, under a different name, Cytota, which was then changed to SHVPES shortly after in 2015.

The band took the genre by storm, unleashing two full-lengths in less than three years. 2016's Pain. Joy. Ecstacy. Despair was audacious and dynamic, brimming with reverberating percussive elements and steely riffs that proved this band was out for a greater purpose in the music industry.

2018's Greater Than would only show the band at the peak of its creativity, as the album explored a different soundscape compared to its counterpart. As they fused rap, metal, and pop influences, they tried something different while creating fantastic modern and urban flair in their music in the process.

While this is the end of the road for this band, SHVPES had a huge future and even larger ideas that many fans would have liked to see grow to fruition. But like with all creative processes, if it no longer fits, it's best to leave as you are now. We will miss them but will appreciate the music they gave to us in the process. The band had this to say about their departure from the music scene:

"Good things all come to an end.

After much introspection, we have decided to call it a day with SHVPES.

As this band has evolved, we have grown a lot as musicians and as people. And as a result, we have found ourselves beginning to move in separate directions, musically and otherwise. To continue on as SHVPES would only place a further strain on our mental health and personal relationships, as well as be dishonest and a disservice to all of you.

We leave on good terms, proud and grateful for everything we've achieved.

To the fans and everyone who has supported, invested, and believed in us, we wholeheartedly thank you. You have allowed us to accomplish things we only ever dreamed of and be a part of something bigger than ourselves. For now though, it’s time for a new chapter.

Peace & Love
