5 Most Unique Music Videos in the Scene

Throughout the years there have been many unique music videos that have left a lasting impression on us. I've done my best to compile some of the best through extensive analysis and cherry-picked some of my favorite eccentric videos to shine some light on and some you may have missed out on throughout the years!

1. "Another Leather Lung" By The Sounds Of Animals Fighting

If the voice of Rick and Morty recommended this music video, it's safe to assume it's probably a trippy video, right? Justin Roiland's adoration aside, the music video itself is probably the closest thing you can get to a psychedelic trip without the aid of a tab with a cartoon face on it. Lots of flashing imagery centered around old-world paintings, a seizure warning should be placed on this one for those with a predisposed condition. The video is a mood shifter as you travel through art history, and it's enough to make you wonder what were they smoking when they made this?

2. "The Robot With Human Hair Saga" collection by Dance Gavin Dance

Dance Gavin Dance's animated videos are quite a trip by themselves, even more so when you realize that all of the animated music videos they've released are interlinked and connected. "Stroke God, Millionaire," "Young Robot," "Son Of Robot," and "Death Of The Robot With Human Hair" all encompass a heroic robot's journey through time and space. If that doesn't sound trippy enough, the band has even funded a graphic novel that goes even deeper into their obscure lore. While the story is pretty open-ended and left up to the viewers' interpretation, the art style is heavily inspired by the album artwork and is pleasing to the eyes through the use of vibrant color palettes.

3. "Coma Dreams" By Icarus The Owl

Puppets and music videos might as well be ideas in tales as old as time. We can go back to Genesis in "Land Of Confusion" to an even more modern take on the matter with "Evil" by Interpol. But Icarus The Owl turned it up a notch with a touching tale, claymation puppets, and a heartfelt story that has it tugging at our heartstrings like a clay version of Pixar's UP. It's probably one of the most unique tales on this list that can supersede the creepiness of its clay cast, yet still be able to connect to the viewer on a deeper level.

4. "Rose Quartz/Fulton Street I" by La Dispute

There are many animated music videos out there with radiant spectacles of color but few involve deer opening their third eye. Borrowing color palettes straight out of the 80s and coming off as a vivid fever dream at times, La Dispute went balls to the wall with this video. "Rose Quartz/Fulton Street I" created an epic distraught tale of a deer's life alongside the highway that keeps you captivated until the very end. The music is tightly connected, rapidly changing yet creating this allure that you can't look away from for even a second.

5. Bring Me The Horizon - Parasite Eve

No matter what side of the fence you sit on in the ever-changing sound of Bring Me The Horizon, it has to be said that they've got some of the most impressive, uncanny valley visuals in the scene today. Their most recent video is a bizarre dip into the minds of the creators that is like a constant barrage, filling your visual receptors with a sea of surreal imagery and CGI that most bands can't support the funds for, but BMTH has it all in spades. The video is a twisted cacophony that leaves you wondering what the heck they were trying to say, but with the message of the song centering on these troubled times, you can't help but feel some resonation.
