Despite the chaotic year that has been 2020, Arizona-based post-hardcore outfit Vera Revive officially formed and have been thriving in the heavy music world. Releasing three singles from March through August, the band has managed to gain over 8000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and with the release of their newest single “In the Absence of Colour”, the band is set to explode in 2021.

Balancing heavy atmospheric instrumentation with melodic and emotive lyricism, this band put every ounce of passion into their music - definitely a driving factor in their impressive Spotify numbers. “In the Absence of Colour” is the lead single for their EP of the same name to be released on January 15th, 2021. The track tackles topics of discrimination within the LGBTQ+ community. “This song in particular deals heavily with sexual discrimination among our LGBTQ peers, as well as discrimination as a whole in the United States,” says guitarist James Swisher. “Suicide rates are staggeringly higher for LGBTQ teens aged 12 - 24, and its important for us as a band to talk about this and convey our feelings on the matter.”

With the dark atmospheric overtones of the track, the band’s sound can be compared to the likes of The Ghost Inside and Counterparts. If you’re a fan of passionate music with a hardcore edge, Vera Revive’s new EP is sure to peak your interest.
