Pop rock anomalies Against The Current are back at it again, bringing the flames to the center of the scene and extinguishing all genre boundaries with the release of their fire new single, “weapon.” The trio has teased fans about new music for some time now, the heat of the moment beginning March 3rd, when the band took to social media asking fans from the US to text them. March 5th the band took to social media again stating “are you ready for weapon? text us & we’ll send you the video teaser we’re dropping tomorrow early.” Fans from the US who reached out to their textline were granted early access to a trailer, while the public got access the very next day. The next day, Against The Current posted the teaser on social media with no caption and no further response that day-- a true tease. The trailer included bits of the music video, yet was interrupted with someone rewinding and fast forwarding through the tape.

Two days later, March 8th, the band reached out to fans with a link stating “we need your help… keep checking back until the fire is out.” The link brought fans to a webpage engulfed in virtual flames. In order to extinguish the fire, fans had to work together and pre-save the new song - a clever marketing tactic for the band and a fun interactive moment for the fans. The next morning, the flames were extinguished and the single artwork for “weapon” was uncovered along with the date “3. 10. 21.” Later the same day the band officially announced the release with the statement, “MIDNIGHT EST “weapon” will be released worldwide. The video premieres tomorrow at 1pm EST & we’ll be hanging in the chat beforehand.” 

As midnight came around, “weapon” was released on all streaming services, gracing the world with its powerful presence. Riveting rhythms from Dan Gow and daring drumming from Will Ferri immediately grab attention. Without hesitation, Chrissy Constanza tears into the song with her outstanding vocal range and control. From the beat to the nail biting relatable lyrics to the banger of a beat, it is without a doubt that “weapon” is a true powerhouse of an anthem. Just as entertaining as the single itself comes the masterpiece of a music video, which premiered today. True to word, the band members chilled with curious fans, answering questions in the chat before the video made its debut.
