August Burns Red Unveil A New Spin on Westworld Theme

Djent kings August Burns Red released a brand new cover of HBO’s Westworld theme. With a multitude of LPs, EPs, singles and collaborations in their catalog, you’d think it would become stale after a while, but ABR continues to impress us with exciting new releases and ways to make the djent scene shake with anticipation. The new instrumental cover follows three other releases; an instrumental take on their song “Extinct By Instinct”, an original stand alone single “Standing in the Storm”, and their cover of the infamous System of a Down song, “Chop Suey!”.

While the original theme of Westworld may seem more ominous and theatrical, August Burns Red knocks it out of the park with their take on the opening. Continuing with the original score, they seem to add on top of it, but with their classic style of djent. Although lacking any vocals, the harmonics and melodies presented by the guitars shows us that there is no need for them. Backed by Matt Greiner’s impeccable drumming, the cover displays a wild and hard hitting take on a rather simple theme; it almost makes you want to change the opening of the show to this.
