Los Angeles solo artist Alex Drake is back with another upbeat alternative/pop-rock tune "Let It Go." This will be the latest we have heard from the independent artist since October with atmospheric and melodic experience, "Peace of Mind," featuring AJ Perdomo of The Dangerous Summer and “Break Me Down” back in December of last year.

While Drake has always made it clear with previous releases that he's not afraid to play around with genres or instrumental framework when it comes to his music, Alex Drake has lovingly combined the best aspects of both these genres, keeping his alternative/pop-rock sensibilities instrumentally outspoken, while his engaging emo-influenced lyricism is kept cleverly in the pocket.

The fourth release off of Alex Drake's upcoming EP, featuring Nick Casasanto of pop-punk band Knuckle-Puck, "The track stays every bit within its genres, yet keeps things light, fresh, and unexpected with its shimmering guitar patterns, pulsating drums, and euphoric vocal work." Lyrically this dives into a deeper aspect most can identify with now more than ever. No matter the struggle, better times will always be ahead, even if you have to find them yourself. The artist spoke frankly of the new track.

“I first created the song instrumentally off a simple guitar riff - then built it into this magnificent sounding powerful force when writing all the other instruments on the track. After sitting on the tune for some time, I brought it to Nick's attention to see if this was the track he wanted to collaborate on. He was all for it.

The lyrics have a strong and upfront message: "Let It Go" started as a poem I wrote to my overarching friend group to remind them that as young humans in this world, regardless of the hardships of 2020, we have a whole lot of life ahead of us to live. It's best to move on and let go of all things stunting our mental growth even before 2020's turmoil.

Individual growth and happiness is something I feel all humans should aspire each day to adhere to, it was very easy to get intertwined in negativity in 2020 which I saw take over a lot of my loved ones' mindsets - and 'Let It Go' sets out to remind my loved ones and all its listeners that no matter what you've been through there are brighter times ahead, it is just in your control.

This song means a lot to me because of this message. I've worked for the last five years to really incorporate focusing on good energy and happiness for myself and my surroundings/loved ones and this motif has helped me tremendously battle demons of my own to progress and grow.

I just want everyone I love to be able to try and do the same. Also, this song marks a huge stepping stone to be able to collaborate with someone who I tremendously look up to. Nick is by far one of the most prestigious songwriters/musicians I know. Working with him has been amazing. I've learned so much from him and look forward to everyone hearing this creation."

If this track speaks to what the upcoming EP will sound like, we have one sun-drenched, wistful, ethereal treat ahead of us.
