Australian Pop-Punk Group Snark Release Heartfelt Single “Stay”

After putting out a handful of singles and an EP over the past couple of years, Snark are back with their first release of 2022. Their brand new single “Stay” shows the Melbourne-based band’s ability to craft a pop-punk banger out of some truly devastating emotions. Though the track is built around punchy guitars and a catchy chorus, the melancholy and longing in the vocal delivery are evident, and that’s even before diving into the lyrics. This tried-and-true format for a pop-punk song is one that Snark are happy to utilize, as they feel that “there's nothing more cathartic than dancing away the darkness.”

“Stay” details the difficult waves of grief that become prominent in someone’s life following the death of a loved one. The band describes the feelings outlined in the song as “searching for some kind of sign from beyond and the brief moments of respite you can take from those memories where you can somehow still feel their presence.” This sentiment is accented by the track’s tragic music video that depicts a man who uses a Ouija board to try communicating with his wife who passed, which causes him to imagine her coming back to him to share one last dance. Make sure you check out this beautifully acted music video and stream “Stay” wherever you get your music!
