In Shallows Expand Their Sound with New Single “Venom”
Keene, New Hampshire metalcore group In Shallows are back with new original music for the first time in almost two years. After releasing their debut EP Beneath The Surface in late 2021, the group continued to hone their craft by playing shows throughout 2022 alongside acts like Saving Vice, ENOX, and If Not For Me, and gained some new attention with their cover of Post Malone’s “Hollywood’s Bleeding”.
On their previous EP, including singles “Phantom Grace” and “Buried By Mistake”, In Shallows developed their foundational metalcore sound. Its tracks contained a heavier strain of metalcore throughout, with clean vocals coming in at the choruses. On “Venom”, the heavy moments and soaring choruses remain, but they integrate spacey and dreamy instrumentals throughout as well, embracing a more balanced form of metalcore songcraft. In Shallows reflect on this growth themselves, stating that, “Our standards have changed while creating new music to reflect our diversity and this is just the beginning. Brace yourself.” “Venom” is out now wherever you get your music.
