Scary Kids Scaring Kids continue their successful return with “Nightmare” featuring Spencer Charnas

Scary Kids Scaring Kids are back and it looks like they are here to stay! After the band’s break up in 2010 and the tragic death of their original singer, Tyson Stevens, in 2014, it seemed their fate was sealed with no prospect of ever getting back together. However, on what would have been Tyson’s 34th birthday in 2019, a heartfelt tribute to him called “Loved Forever” was released, serving as the catalyst for SKSK’s comeback.

Riding on the success of their The City Sleeps In Flames 15 Year Anniversary Tour with Cove Reber and their single, “Knock It All Down” featuring Lil Lotus, Scary Kids Scaring Kids grace us with another dream come true called “Nightmare.” “Nightmare” features the absolute best pick for a vocalist that this song could have – Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills. Ice Nine Kills have been killing it in the alternative music scene with their highly successful albums, The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood. Horror movies inspire each track on both Silver Scream records, thus making Spencer singing on “Nightmare” all the more perfect.

“Nightmare” will have you waking in a cold sweat wishing you heard it sooner. With its chunky and sweep-picked guitars, it’ll be hard to resist playing air guitar in tribute to these rock gods when this song comes on. Spencer’s voice masterfully soars over the track and is sweet where it needs to be but bone-chilling when he screams. Scary Kids Scaring Kids even throw in a trap beat during the verses, bending the genre with some 808s. If “Nightmare” is indeed a nightmare, then it’s not one we’d ever want to wake from. Fans of Scary Kids Scary Kids and Ice Nine Kills will be pinching themselves to ensure they aren’t dreaming because “Nightmare” is that amazing.
