sunbleached Carry the Torch for Shoegazey Emo with “Spinning Around”

Brisbane, Australia group sunbleached have just released their latest single “Spinning Around”, building on their catalog of shoegazey emo tracks. The members of sunbleached came together in 2020 after working on previous projects in music and set out to bring their favorite sounds from earlier decades into a new era. They have since found themselves carrying the torch for the “emo-gaze” style that was popularized in the 2010s by bands like Title Fight with their final record Hyperview and similar artists like Run for Cover Records groups Basement and Citizen. sunbleached find themselves in good company in this endeavor, including other upstarts like Moss Tongue and Bliss Fields, and current RFC darlings Anxious on their brand new single “Sunsign”.  

“Spinning Around” is a hazy and moody track that delves into feelings of anxiety that come up when someone’s prior experiences make it difficult to trust others. Vocalist Josh Baker explains, "The song describes a sort of self-sabotaging mantra that we can probably all get ourselves into, and “Spinning Around” serves as an effort to be mindful of that, and acts as a reminder to remember the good in others when the worst is on show."
