Worth The Wait Befriend Their Demons on New Single “DARKMODE”

Ohio-based band Worth The Wait have been around for a while – having originally formed in 2009 and gone through multiple lineup changes and periods of hiatus, they are now back in full force in the 2020s. Regarding their comeback, vocalist Dakota Rose states, “8 years ago we wrote and released "The Ark", which I had written about my first born son, Noah. But when it comes time to raise a family it’s hard to balance work, family, and music. So, I had to cut back on how much time I was putting towards it. We came to a mutual agreement to put things on hold until the time felt right. Finally, the time feels right, and we're more alive than ever. The music we're writing will show you just that."

Their return in the past few years has come in the form of four new singles, with their most recent offering being “DARKMODE”, which dropped earlier this month. The abrasive industrial metalcore track sees Rose facing his demons, and as professed in the lyrics, even befriending them. “I was battling one of the absolute toughest moments of my life. Everyone experiences these moments throughout their lives in different ways. Loss. Realization. They take on different forms through different people and situations. They manipulate your surroundings and your thoughts to convince you that you have become something that you simply are not. They put you in that dark place. They enable your dark mode. And once it's switched on, you can't turn it off. Not that you forget to, but you realize how much easier on the eyes your life becomes without being forced to be dimmed down and put out.”

As Worth The Wait’s sound evolves in the current landscape of metalcore, they are letting their fans in on their process with a fun new feature on their Spotify page. They created playlists, named “Kota-Core”, “Joe-Core”, “Zach-Core”, and “John-Core” after each member of the band, full of artists that reflect their personal taste and musical influences. Motionless In White and Attack Attack! are prominently featured in these playlists, which will make sense for anyone who enjoys “DARKMODE”, and the influence of Crystal Lake’s 2019 album Helix shines through on Worth The Wait’s 2020 single “Slander (Dead Inside)”.

Check out “DARKMODE” wherever you get your music and be sure to keep your eyes on Worth The Wait!
