Review: The Devil Wears Prada ‘ZII’
TDWP is back with their new zombie EP, ZII, and are stronger than ever. ZII was originally announced on April 1st, so it was up in the air if the band was serious about the new EP or if this was a part of April Fools. Lucky for everyone, the release was legitimate and now fans can hear a continuation of the first Zombie EP that was released in 2010.
The Devil Wears Prada starts off the EP strong with “Nightfall,” which is energetic and fast-paced. The way this song, as many of the others, is laid out makes for an easy listening experience. This is a high quality single with cutting edge sounds and melodic rhythms. Not to mention, the guitar ruffs cut through perfectly.
“Forlorn” comes in next with a fast tempo that will be perfect for a live show. There are also a couple of sections of clean vocals that help add to how dynamic this song is.
“Termination” has the most synth influence of all of the songs, though this EP doesn’t have as many theatrics as the original Zombie EP. There is a strong synth presence on the EP still, offset by strong moments of hard-hitting instrumentals.
Up next the EP slows down with “Nora,” followed by “Contagion,” which has the most clean vocals on the EP.
ZII is a highly intense sequel from the original EP in 2010. It’s easy to recognize how much the band has developed and it was definitely worth the wait.
Not only did TWDP release ZII, but they also put on a livestream. The Devil Wears Prada always sound incredible live, but it also gives listeners a chance to hear Mike’s raw vocals on the tracks and the lighting helped to create their own apocalypse. Also during the livestream, the band added transitional music between the tracks that is similar to those on the Space EP.
TWDP has been sitting in the #1 spot on the Apple Music Rock charts. Obviously fans are more than happy for this long-waited release, and now they have to wait and anticipate the live show hopefully coming soon.
