Dance Gavin Dance Release New Track "Strawberry Wake"

Dance Gavin Dance have always had continuity in mind when it comes to a new album release. Throughout their illustrious career, there have been two subjects within Dance Gavin Dance's musical stories that have remained consistent, the Robot With Human Hair and the Strawberry.

The subject of the Strawberry first appeared in 2007, with “Strawberry Andre” being the first of its kind on Downtown Battle Mountain. Jumping ahead 5 years, the Strawberry surfaced again in Instant Gratification with “Death of a Strawberry”. Like all great stories that involve death, the band is paying respects to the Strawberry character with new release “Strawberry Wake” off forthcoming album Afterburner.

Though there is a heaviness that is marked within the title, outside of this the track’s instrumental and lyrical content reveals quite the opposite. With a video that shows the band's playful nature, it’s a funky post-hardcore track with a positive message to share with its fans. “Strawberry Wake” winds up being a festive track that concentrates on an importance of self-love and much less about the depressing experience the title shares.

With Tilian’s sundry vocal and lyrical delivery, Jon Mess’s signature screams, upbeat percussive patterns, and vibrant guitar licks, this glittery summer-soaked track is just the kind of experience that most Dance Gavin Dance fans will enjoy.
