Josh Naujokas Releases Bass-Heavy Single "The Cajoler"
Emo-rap newcomer Josh Naujokas continues his string of promising releases with his latest single “The Cajoler”. This single follows the release of his second EP Music to Drown By, which came out earlier this year.
“The Cajoler” is a slow-burn, bass-heavy addition to the Josh Naujokas collection. Scrapping the light ambient leads that consumed most of the Music to Drown By EP, he allows horror genre-inspired distorted elements to drive the track - familiar to a modern Ghostemane. Though the lyrical content seems to be in the same vein as previous releases, this transition in instrumentation feels like a much better fit.
“Every project I make always has to have something different than before,” says Naujokas. “My generalized sound is inspired by badXchannels, Joji, and Lil Peep. With this song, it introduces an unannounced project that will have even more diminished chords and heavy distorted elements, giving off Ghostemane, VoKillz, and XXXTENTACION vibes. I really enjoy horror movies and whatnot, so I tried to capture that feeling in my music. I want to introduce more people to this underground style, because I feel like it gets buried under other popular forms of music. I also feel like this next coming project will be what pushes my career to the next level and I'm thrilled to see everyone's reaction to it.”
It sounds like this isn’t the last we’ll be hearing from Josh Naujokas in 2020, with an unannounced project currently in the works. If this transition in sound is working for you, stay tuned for what comes next. Be sure to check out “The Cajoler” in the meantime!
