Emerge Restless to Release New Album ‘Ursus Maritimus’

Virginia post-hardcore outfit Emerge Restless have released “Bethel, Believe”, the sixth and final single in anticipation of the release of their debut album Ursus Maritimus, set to be released October 1st, 2021 via Sonic Decoy Records. “Bethel, Believe” acts as the powerful gateway into this 10-track album, which is growing evermore promising with every single released.

Composed of Eley on vocals, Chris Coykendall on guitar/bass/vocals, Rich Potts on guitar/bass/vocals, and Vincent Kondas on drums, Emerge Restless emerged from the shadows of their previous band, In Cynthia’s Diary, in early 2020 to release their debut and most listened to single “Venom”. With triumphant lyricism and driving instrumentation, “Venom” was an impressive introduction to Ursus Maritimus, which has been followed up with “Five Fires”, “Hedy Lamarr”, “Viral Images”, “Citrate”, and finally “Bethel, Believe” - each contributing a unique style and sound to the growing anticipation of the record.

Taking inspiration from a wide variety of artists and genres, Emerge Restless present an ambient, progressive post-hardcore that is reminiscent of Full Collapse-era Thursday or The Weak’s End-era Emery. In an interview with New Groove Magazine, the band had this to say about their musical inspirations: “We can go on and on with a list, so we’ll just say that our influences include Deftones, Glassjaw, Marvin Gaye, Thrice, The Carpenters, STP, Car Bomb, Metallica, Jimmy Eat World, Tesseract.” While you can certainly hear these influences flowing through these singles, Emerge Restless have a unique ability to make the tracks their own; they let their influences guide them, but not dominate.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the official music video for “Venom” above, as well as the official audio for the brand new single “Bethel, Believe” below. Remember to mark your calendars for October 1st, and to preorder Ursus Maritimus now!
