NYXKISS Rebrands to Release New Album ‘Friday the 23rd’

NYXKISS (AKA Josh Naujokas) has finally dropped his new album FRIDAY THE 23RD, after releasing a slew of promising singles, including “XTORTIONIST”, “APPLE OF EDEN”, and “FRIDAY THE 23RD”. NYXKISS is also no stranger to the scene, having previously collaborated with Jonny Craig on “Ron Burgundy’s Weekend” and now a well-fitting feature from Dropout Kings on the title track of the new project. This 9-track album explores the growing genre of emo-rap, while embracing heavy distortion and dark symphonics.

When we first covered NYXKISS, under the name Josh Naujokas at the time, for the release of “THE CAJOLER” - the lead single for FRIDAY THE 23RD - we were told the upcoming project would “have even more diminished chords and heavy distorted elements, giving off Ghostemane, VoKillz, and XXXTENTACION vibes.” This description certainly stands up, particularly on tracks as “BARBED WIRE LIMBO” and “NOBODY’S INTERLUDE PT. 2”. Reverberated vocals and booming instrumentals ring true throughout this album, while features from Dropout Kings and Kid Corduroy bring fresh voices into the mix at just the right times. Overall, FRIDAY THE 23RD doesn’t overstay its welcome, making for a quick and enjoyable listen in just under 30 minutes.

With an official music video featured below, “NOBODY’S INTERLUDE PT. 2” is a standout track from the album that Naujokas wanted to highlight. “NOBODY’S INTERLUDE, I feel like just ended up writing itself,” says Naujokas. “It seems like a lot of interludes on albums are named after past partners people have been romantically involved with. I don't miss any of my ex's, so they don't get the recognition of a song title. So boom, this is NOBODY’S INTERLUDE.” It is the first of two videos produced by Lightminds Entertainment.

Be sure to check out the full album wherever you stream music, and if you like what you hear, get your hands on some merch before it’s all gone!
